How We Do It
How We Teach Companies To Anticipate Crisis
Early Detection=Early Warning to assess Risk
How We Teach Companies To Prepare and Respond To Crisis:
Whether a plant in Mexico, an R&D lab in Sweden, or a corporate office in New York City, we can help companies navigate through “worst case” scenarios.
Companies must be ready for a whole array of risk factors, including natural disasters, potential supply chain disruptions, cyber incidents, market
developments, quality deficiencies, human error, etc. All of these risks, and many more, have the ability to inflict significant damage to company image,
reputation, productivity and market value.
A study by Oxford Metrica found that more than three-quarters of companies confronted with a major crisis, experienced a 20-30% drop in their stock price
as a result of the way the incident was managed. Effective crisis preparation and response is even more critical for smaller companies with limited resources
and start-up companies – especially those in various stages of IPO — where just one misstep can jeopardize their future as on-going entities.
At AEGIS Crisis Management, we know how critical maintaining operations can be for any company. The idea of manual workarounds or a backup facility may seem unrealistic, as there is very little tolerance for interruption. Having worked with numerous companies across industries, we know how to make sure that you have realistic recovery capabilities. We will enable you to better prepare for crises regardless of their nature or origin. This includes how to recognize a crisis, forecast potential impacts and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and agencies.
Interactive Client Tailored Programs and Workshops: Designed to Teach Management Teams How to Prepare for and Manage a Crisis Effectively and Efficiently.
Our clients have found significant value in participating in a half day or full day training workshop where our AEGIS team meets with Executive Leadership. These workshops are designed to accelerate awareness and understanding of crisis management and communications preparedness and planning. Key outcomes from the training include:
- Identification of hazards/vulnerabilities that represent potential crises
- Development of notification triggers and escalation procedures for those incidents that have immediate crisis potential
- Crisis Management Team Roles and Responsibilities
- Communication to internal and numerous external stakeholders; (communication strategy and messaging)
- Responding to the media; “what to say, when to say it and how to say it”
- Recognizing that there is an aftermath to any crisis and steps to prepare for what’s next
Training will be built around an escalating crisis scenario that could impact brand, reputation and shareholder value. The AEGIS team will initiate the session using a blinded approach where your company’s team will be asked to deal with an incident which they believe is a “real” event. As the simulated crisis escalates through a series of “moves” the company’s ability to operate will be severely impacted. During each move, the team will be asked to develop action plans and response strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
We have found it most effective to optimize “teaching moments” and reference best practices in effective crisis management and communications throughout the day, often offering review, assessment and suggestions where appropriate after each step. A full debriefing session following the training will summarize key outcomes
and lessons learned. The AEGIS team will then provide a formal “After Action Report” following the workshop.
